Improve Quality Scores by Leveraging Medical Transportation Resources, 06.23.2011

Unique in the transportation management industry, Access2Care has the resources and expertise to align our transportation services with your clinical access and performance goals.

We are part of a larger healthcare company, American Medical Response (AMR). AMR has more than 18,000 employees nationwide, including paramedics, EMTs, nurses and support staff. By combining A2C’s transportation management expertise, national network of transportation providers and multiple call centers with AMR’s medical service delivery expertise and on-the-ground presence allows us to custom-design programs for health plans that meet a variety of clinical, quality and cost control goals.

Some examples include:

  • HEDIS focused outbound call campaigns to set PCP appointments and arrange transportation for members who need to be seen for mammography, cancer screenings, diabetic retinal scans, etc.
  • Home visits from paramedics who provide immunizations, health risk assessments, safety evaluations, smoking cessation education, diabetic and other blood draws with direct delivery to your labs and other services. These services allow us to reach a significant percentage of members who fail to receive these critical services through more traditional means.
  • On-site assessment at clinics of ESRD patients to determine the lowest-cost medically appropriate mode of transportation. These assessments can lower or eliminate the use of transporting members in costly ambulances when wheelchair vans or sedans would meet medical necessity requirements.

AMR’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ed Racht, is committed to helping us develop clinical access programs that meet your needs. Dr. Racht has extensive experience in emergency medical systems and healthcare systems.

We can help you improve health outcomes and related HEDIS scores and better manage your transportation dollars.

New, State-of-the-Art System

Also on our docket for 2011 is a region-by-region roll-out of our completely new call intake and trip assignment system that offers industry leading functionality and efficiency. The new system will be customized for each health plan client and allow for flexible and innovative program design. Your A2C account executive will contact you before the roll-out with more specific information about the system.
